Project Overview

BHP’s Olympic Dam Accommodation Project was instigated as a fast track project to provide accommodation facilities that are of an industry leading quality and quantity to support operations over the next decade and beyond to retain existing workforce and provide an attractive accommodation option for the next generation of FIFO workers.

Current accommodation facilities for Olympic Dam’s commute workforce are provided in two camps that collectively house approximately 3000 personnel with a large percentage approaching 30 years of age.

Stage 1 of this Project will supply additional capacity up to 1500 rooms.

BHP engaged ProManage to provide senior project management services through Marc Fiorili. Services include leading, managing, mentoring and guiding the Project Engineers in their interface with the Design and Construct Contractors facilitating and conforming executable work package. ProManage services were subsequently extended to include working within the Project Delivery team to achieve BHP’s desired outcomes for the project during the critical construction phase services.

Project challenges and solutions relevant to the Project:

  • Establishing and meeting schedule for fast tracked project within BHP
  • Developing commercial frameworks that deliver qualitative responses
